I've been spending some time in different industrial environments, and while working with one of the big machines in one of these places I encountered an interesting item. It was called an optical shutter, which basically made it possible to block light to sensors. It might sound a little unnessecary under many circumstances, but in alot of different occasions it definitely fills a purpose. And most of the times it just enables easier, cheaper and a little better looking solution for sensors.
